DOWNDRAFT TABLES
A downdraft table is a small, self-contained portable air filtration work station that
removes harmful airborne particulates and returns filtered air back into the facility with no ductwork or external ventilation
required. Also known as downdraft tables or backdraft benches, these units use peforated work surfaces, sides or backs
to draw in the contaminated air for cleaner ventilation of the work area.
Downdraft tables provide a smaller containment area than a dust collector booth, but still provide sufficient controlled
air circulation to filter contaminated air from many industrial processes.
When using a downdraft table, the contaminated air is usually drawn / vacuumed thru the perforated work surface or thru
the back of the work station into the air filtration units where airborne dust and other particulates or contaminants can
be removed. Sometimes a flexible fume/dust collecting arm or containment curtains can be used.
